Job Description: PURPOSE:
The Cost Controller II assists the Project Controls Manager in various areas of
cost tracking, forecasting, reporting and budget preparation. Performs estimating
assignments which require the selection and application of resource monitoring
and control principals, techniques and technical knowledge of a construction
project.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for assisting with the analyses and reporting of cost over and
under-runs on capital projects.
• Perform reviews and updates of budgets and forecasts, when necessary.
• Assist with monitoring subcontract / purchase order activity.
• Conducts review of contractor invoices.
• Assists the Project Controls Manager in tracking project level
expenditures, commitments and forecasts against budgets.
• Contributes to the preparation of monthly project cost reporting package.
• Performs tasks required to develop and maintain budgets for a portion
of a project. Includes coding timesheets, invoices, etc., collecting
actual installed, monitor progress per cost account, etc.
• Supports supervision through preparation and maintenance of
budgets and forecasts. Includes identifying potential cost overruns, reforecasting
over-expended accounts, etc.
• Supervises updating of construction forecast to reflect most
accurate/current cost and estimate information.
• Interfaces with other construction departments to provide
cost/budget data for items such as subcontract change requests, bid
comparisons, new work item estimates, and expenditure control.
• May provide supervision and/or on-the-job training to clerical and entrylevel
professional personnel assigned to area of responsibility.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Requires excellent written and oral communication skills, with strong attention to
detail.
Position also requires the ability to manage multiple priorities and provide
assistance with various areas of cost control.
Requires working knowledge of and ability to select/apply resource
monitoring and control techniques i.e., cost accounting, budget analysis, etc.
as well as an understanding of the nature of process systems, structures and
construction technology.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
Minimum of 5 years experience with engineering and construction contractor or
related field.
Professional affiliation and college degree preferred OR
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required
knowledge, skills and abilities.
