The SME will provide technical leadership in lean manufacturing, systems integration, production scalability, and cost-efficiency strategies tailored to high-stakes defense projects. We are seeking an experienced and innovative Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Industrial Engineering to support the optimization of complex manufacturing, logistics, and sustainment systems within defense and aerospace programs. The SME will provide technical leadership in lean manufacturing, systems integration, production scalability, and cost-efficiency strategies tailored to high-stakes defense projects. This role is pivotal in improving readiness, efficiency, and lifecycle value in support of national defense initiatives.
- Lead industrial engineering efforts for the design, optimization, and execution of manufacturing and assembly processes in defense production environments.
- Analyze production workflows and facility layouts to enhance throughput, reduce waste, and increase process reliability.
- Provide subject matter expertise in cost estimation, capacity planning, simulation modeling, and supply chain integration.
- Drive the implementation of lean principles, Six Sigma methodologies, and continuous improvement initiatives across production lines.
- Support new product introduction (NPI) and transition to production (TTP) for defense systems and components.
- Conduct root cause analysis and corrective action planning for process non-conformities or bottlenecks.
- Collaborate with engineering, quality, logistics, and procurement teams to support integrated product teams (IPTs).
- Advise on digital manufacturing technologies, industrial automation, and smart factory initiatives (e.g., Industry 4.0).
- Ensure compliance with defense production standards, regulations, and security protocols (e.g., ITAR, AS9100, ISO).
- Prepare and deliver technical reports, presentations, and data visualizations for stakeholders and executive leadership.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 15+ years of experience in industrial engineering roles, ideally within the defense, aerospace, or advanced manufacturing sectors.
- Proven expertise in manufacturing systems design, time/motion studies, and process optimization.
- Proficiency with industrial engineering tools and platforms (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Arena/Simio, SAP, MES systems).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Eligibility for a U.S. government security clearance (or equivalent if international).
